Course Essentials

Arden University’s BA (Hons) Degree in Healthcare Management, will develop your management skills while exploring both internal and external business environments.

This Arden University Degree is taught via our Blended Learning programme, which lets you combine online study with lectures 2 days a week at one of our LondonManchester, Berlin and Birmingham based study centres. 

Throughout your healthcare degree, you’ll develop a wide range of transferable skills – from health promotion to financial control and budgeting. The course ensures you gain an understanding of the challenges faced by healthcare professionals, whilst also acquiring management skills that will equip you to progress your career to the next level.

You’ll also explore important concepts including social responsibility, policy making, and politics and ethics in the worlds of health and healthcare management. So whether you’re thinking of starting a career in healthcare or are ready to step into a management position in your existing healthcare career, you’ll graduate from this course prepared to take on senior-level responsibilities in organisations across the sector.

You have the choice to complete your course via online learning or full-time at our Berlin campus.

When can I study?

Requiring just 8 hours of classes a week at your chosen UK study centre or in Germany.

In addition to the 8 hours of face-to-face teaching each week, you will be expected to study an additional minimum of 25.5 hours of online independent learning.

This is perfect if you want more guided learning but need the flexibility to study around work, family or other commitments.

 

Entry Requirements

This BA (Hons) Healthcare Management Degree course has standard entry requirements. To be eligible for this course at Arden University you must have either:

  • Two subjects at GCE A-Level or equivalent, plus passes at grade C or above in three subjects at GCSE level or equivalent; OR
  • Have completed a recognised Access Programme or equivalent

Don’t meet the standard entry requirements, but have work experience?

Arden University is happy to consider an application from you if you can show us you have the motivation to study the programme.

We’ll ask you for a personal statement that demonstrates your ability to study the course. We’ll also ask you for references and evidence of relevant work experience.

Not sure if you’re ready to take on this Degree?

We also offer this course as a 4 year Degree which includes a foundation year. We will consider you for the 4 year Degree programme if you hold a level 2 qualification (equivalent to 3 GCSE’s) or can demonstrate a years’ work experience.  The extra first year prepares you for university-level study and is ideal if you’re returning to study after a long absence, or want some extra reassurance before embarking on a Degree course.

Non-native English speaker?
If your prior learning was not taught in English we require IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (no less than 5.5 in any element). 

Course Content

Our Healthcare Management Degree course gives you the chance to explore different areas of healthcare, all of which play crucial roles in the successful operation of services in the industry.

With Arden University you’ll learn about social, political and ethical issues in international healthcare, financial control and budgeting, and quality management.

Study skills

During the first 6 weeks of year 1 (Block 1) you will also attend 4 study skills workshops, providing advice and guidance to help you achieve university success. Sessions may include Reading & Note-Taking, iLearn Online Library, Referencing & Plagiarism and Approaching Assignments. This will bring your weekly class time up to 9.5 house a week for Block 1. The following study blocks will be the usual 8 hours classroom time (+online tuition and self-guided study time).

To support your development and ensure that you’re on the right track with your Blended Learning studies, you’ll receive tutor feedback for every assessment you submit.

What is Blended Learning at Arden University ?

How does it work?

The face-to-face hours are delivered over 2 days per week, but with the additional independent online learning, you can still complete your Degree in 3 years*. This Blended approach means you can study anytime, anywhere and your tutors and support teams can be contacted outside of the classroom, online or over the phone.

Timetable is limited to either two mornings (9.00am to 1.00pm) or two afternoons (1.30pm to 9.30pm), or two evenings (two nights on campus 5.30pm – 9.30pm) during teaching weeks;
